Soft Services in the UK: Our Guide to the Range

Soft Services is known for treating body skin as seriously as the face, with clever, practical formulas for bumps, rough texture, ingrown hairs and hardworking hands. It can be hard to find in the UK. This is our guide to the Soft Services pieces we stock at Glow Trend, what each one does best, and how to put them together.

Why Soft Services

Soft Services approaches body care as a set of specific concerns rather than a single moisturiser. Keratosis pilaris, persistent dryness, dead skin build-up and weathered hands each get a targeted formula, built on workhorse ingredients such as microcrystal exfoliants, urea, colloidal oatmeal and retinol. The textures are designed to be used every day and the packaging, such as the refillable Theraplush case, is made to be kept. Like everything in our edit, each Soft Services product was researched and tested before we chose to stock it.

Buffing Bars

The product Soft Services is best known for. The Buffing Bar is a solid microcrystal exfoliating bar that buffs away dead skin and excess keratin, smoothing rough, bumpy skin and helping reduce keratosis pilaris and ingrown hairs, while shea butter and aloe help prevent dryness. Use it on clean, wet skin on arms, legs, elbows and knees, then follow with a moisturiser. It is not a cleanser. The original is fragrance free, Green Banana adds a crisp banana scent and is ideal before shaving or self tan, and Affogato L'Orange, a set of two milder bars with coffee seed oil, smells of espresso, vanilla coconut and bright citrus. The "Vacation" Buffing Bar, a collaboration with Vacation, comes as a set of two in its signature sunny scent and offers moderate to intense exfoliation that also lifts away the day's sunscreen. Carea Cream

A lotion for bodies that need more than moisture. Carea Cream is built around 10% urea, which both moisturises and mildly exfoliates, with 5% squalane and 1% colloidal oatmeal to calm skin and help create a protective barrier against moisture loss. Because skin varies across the body, it is designed to care for combination skin day in, day out, and with regular use bumpy texture, persistent dryness and dead skin build-up are diminished. It is the natural partner to a Buffing Bar. Shop Carea Cream

Comfort Cleanse Ultra Soothing Shower Gel

A gentle, deeply hydrating body wash for sensitive and reactive skin. Colloidal oatmeal calms, glycerin and aloe hydrate, and ceramides support a healthy barrier, while mild plant-based surfactants lather into a soft, cushiony foam. It is pH balanced and free from fragrance, sulphates, parabens, phthalates and essential oils, so it cleanses without leaving skin tight or uncomfortable. Shop Comfort Cleanse

Theraplush Overnight Retinol Hand Treatments

Theraplush cares for hands during the hours they are not in use. The nourishing cream cushion-coats hands while you sleep, with 0.05% retinol, 1% colloidal oatmeal and 0.5% panthenol to restore skin, maintain tidy cuticles and strengthen nails. It lives in a refillable case designed to stay on your nightstand as the last step before bed. Choose the original, or "Hold", which pairs warming spices and softly powdered florals with a skin-like, woodsy musk. We also stock the "Xtra Milk" gift set with Dedcool's matching travel perfume, and the limited-edition Mother of Pearl set with all three refills. Shop Theraplush or Shop Theraplush "Hold"

How to use the range

Start in the shower with Comfort Cleanse, especially if your skin is sensitive. Two to three times a week, follow with a Buffing Bar on wet skin, using firmer pressure on rough spots and a lighter touch everywhere else, and avoid broken, sunburned or irritated skin. Pat dry and smooth on Carea Cream, which keeps texture in check between buffing days and suits daily use. At night, make Theraplush the last thing you do before bed, massaging a thin coat into hands and cuticles.
