A bilayer serum built around 15% pure L-ascorbic acid, the most researched and active form of vitamin C. A squalane layer sits above it in the bottle, blocking oxygen and light from reaching the active below, and xanthophyll drawn from marigold flowers stabilises it further. Shake before use to bring the two layers together. The orange-gold colour comes from the marigold, not from any added dye.

The texture is light and absorbs quickly, with ten per cent squalane keeping it comfortable on skin that usually finds high-strength vitamin C too much. The faint tangy scent is the ascorbic acid itself rather than a fragrance, and it disappears as the serum sinks in.

Used every morning, it brightens and evens the look of the complexion, softens the appearance of discolouration and leaves a smooth, faintly dewy finish that sits well under makeup and SPF.

Best for

Dullness, uneven tone, visible discolouration and early fine lines. Suits most skin types, including sensitive skin, though a patch test is sensible given the strength.

How to use

Use in the morning. Shake well to combine the two layers, then apply two pumps to clean skin across the face and neck. Follow with moisturiser and SPF. Store somewhere cool and dark, and use within six months of opening.

Key ingredients

Fifteen per cent stabilised L-ascorbic acid works on brightness, the look of elasticity and the appearance of dark spots. Xanthophyll from marigold shields it against degradation from air and light. Squalane at ten per cent forms the protective top layer and supports the barrier so the strength of the active stays comfortable. Ferulic acid, tocopherol and glutathione add further antioxidant support.
